The grinding shield allows for a complete 180° field of vision while grinding while the darkening of the helmet is fully adjustable for shade level, time of the dimming, and the duration the shading is active. All of which is done automatically thanks to functions such as the X-Mode™. This also allows for welding to be done outdoors regardless of sunlight, or in the presence of low amperage welding. This and the auto darkening are done thanks to the three independent arc sensors along the ridge of the lens which continue to work even if one is blocked.
The conservation of battery life and prolonged use is possible thanks to the automatic on/off function in conjunction with the solar assist technology that comes standard in all Miller brand helmets.
